Daphne’s Simple Savings Hack – How to clean your bike chain and identify your bike if it gets stolenMay 27, 2018
Keeping your bike in good shape saves you money in the long run and a lot less hassle of having it break down when you are riding it. One way to do that is to keep your bicycle chain clean and greased. Here is a simple inexpensive way to do it.
You will need a chain cleaner and two toothbrushes and two zip ties. You want to use the toothbrushes to make a double sides brush. Simply take those brushes and have the bristles facing each other. Then take the zip ties and place them around the brush handles so they will secure the brushes from moving and they stay together creating a double brush. Now put some chain cleaner on the chain and place the now doubled brush around the chain and use the peddles to work the chain through the brush.
To identify that your bicycle actually belongs to you, if by some chance it has been stolen and is now recovered, you may need to prove to the authorities it is your bike. Simply take out the plug on the handles of your handle bar and place a piece of paper with your name and address written on it inside the hole, then put the plug back in its place. If you need to prove the bicycle recovered belongs to you, just pop that piece of paper out of the handle bar hole. This most likely will prove it is your bike because that piece of paper couldn’t have been placed in there by the robbers.
