Cooking on a dime while keeping it simple!
Meatballs in a crockpot:
Bashas’ has 85% ground beef on sale during their 4-day sale starting on Friday until Monday, September, 3rd. During that sale, you can buy ground beef for $1.99/lb and get up to two packs for that price. In addition, Bashas’ also has Classico pasta sauce sold in 24 oz jars on sale for $1.99 each when you purchase 5 qualifying products.
1 large egg
1/4 C chopped flat leaf parsley
1 tsp minced garlic
½ yellow onion chopped finely
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp ground pepper
¾ C breadcrumbs (I make my own with cereal flakes and crumble them up with a mallet and add about 1 tsp of Italian seasoning)
¼ C Parmesan cheese
1/4 pounds of 85% or higher ground beef
2 jars of pasta sauce
Grab a large bowl, beat the egg then add parsley, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Mix everything together.
Grab bits of ground beef until it’s gone and add it to the mixture in the bowl.
Add the two jars of pasta sauce into the crockpot and set the temp to low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 5 to 6 hours.
Take little pieces of the ground beef mixture and roll them into individual meatballs. You should get anywhere from 16 to 26 meatballs. Place each one into the crockpot and make sure the meatballs are all covered in the pasta sauce. If grease is present on top when it is done cooking, just skim it off and then stir the sauce and meatballs. Now you are ready to chow down.
