The secret to getting baked fries just as crispy as fried ones but without all the fat and calories
I love figuring out food hacks. For example, how can you make crispy french fries without frying them? I found the secret and it’s so simple. All you have to do is soak those fries in salt and water for 15 minutes and pat them dry before cooking.
Here’s one of my basic crispy oven-baked french fries recipes:
3 large russet potatoes
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Cut the potatoes into fries and soak them in a bowl covered with water and a few tablespoons of salt for 15 minutes. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Rinse fries and pat until completely dry. Place the dry fries in a bowl and mix the tablespoon of olive oil evenly on the fries then mix the salt and pepper evenly over the fries. Place them on a cooking sheet in the oven for 40 to 50 minutes. Once they are nice and crispy, remove them from the oven, slightly cool and enjoy your crispy, less fat, baked french fries.
