How to Cook Dry Beans in less than an hour using an InstapotFebruary 11, 2019
Things you need
- 1 pound dried beans black, pinto, Peruano beans or chickpeas
- 1 Tb olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 garlic quarter peeled and chopped
- 1 bay leaves
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 cups of water
- Of course an Instapot or pressure cooker
Rinse the beans
Add the beans to the Instant Pot.
Add your ingredients, then the water.
Set the Instant Pot to Manual, cook on high pressure for 30 minutes for black, pinto and Peruano beans or 40 minutes for chickpeas.
Once the beans are done, let the pressure release naturally for about 30 minutes. Then open the valve and release the rest of the pressure. Remove the bay leave.
Now your beans should be cooked to perfection. You may need to drain some water but if you plan on storing the leftovers leave some liquid so the beans can stay moist.
