How I Saved Money at Christmas by Making Homemade Candles

Making Candles

What You Need to Make Candles

Making candles is easier than many people think. You do not need fancy equipment and you may already own some of the supplies.

Here is what I used:

• Candle wax
• Fragrance oils
• Candle wicks
• Containers or tins
• A scale to measure wax
• A way to melt the wax such as a heating plate

I already owned a heating plate so that kept my costs even lower.

How the Candle Making Process Works

Once the wax is melted, I add fragrance, place the wick in the container, and carefully pour the wax into the tins.

After pouring, the candles need to sit for about twenty four hours until they fully harden. Once they are set, I place them in a dark room for about a week. This curing time helps the scent settle properly and improves the quality of the candle.

After that, they are ready to gift.

Why Homemade Gifts Save Money

Homemade gifts are personal, practical, and budget friendly. Instead of spending money on store bought items, you control the cost and the quality.

For me, candle making allowed me to give something meaningful while spending far less than I would have at retail stores. It also gave me the joy of creating something with my own hands.

If you are looking for ways to save money during the holidays or anytime throughout the year, consider making gifts instead of buying them. Small changes like this can add up to big savings.
