Let’s be completely honest for a second: I don’t really like eating vegetables. But we all have to eat them, right?
Because I want to stay healthy without spending a fortune or wasting hours in the kitchen every single day, I developed a super simple routine. It makes eating greens completely painless, budget-friendly, and fast.
Here is my exact game plan to save time and money the second you get home from the grocery store.
Step 1: The Cheap & Easy 5-Minute Soak
Don’t waste your hard-earned money on expensive, store-bought vegetable sprays. All you actually need is a staple you probably already have sitting in your pantry: baking soda.
- Fill a bowl with water and add a little bit of baking soda.
- Toss your vegetables in and let them soak for about 5 minutes.
- Rinse them off thoroughly with fresh water.
- Let them dry completely on the counter.
It’s incredibly cheap, highly effective, and takes almost zero effort.
Step 2: Prep Once, Eat for Three Days
The biggest reason people skip out on their veggies is the daily hassle of washing and chopping. To fix that, I use my favorite meal-prep shortcut:
Right after my washed vegetables dry, I make one massive salad.
Because everything is already clean and prepped, this giant salad stays perfectly fresh and crisp for about three days. When lunchtime rolls around, there is no slicing, dicing, or cleaning required—I just grab a bowl and eat.
By spending just a few minutes upfront, I guarantee I’ll eat healthy for the next three days without having to think about it.
