Hello, Savvy Shoppers!
We all know that grocery prices have been a bit “hit or miss” lately. This week, my usual “hot deals” for ground beef were nowhere to be found—but that didn’t stop me from finding a way to save.
The Strategy: Buy Bulk, Divide, and Conquer Using the Flipp app, I tracked down a bulk deal at BJ’s for $3.68 a pound. I walked out with nearly three pounds of fresh ground beef for just about $10.
The Game Plan: When you buy in large quantities, the work starts the second you get into the kitchen. To avoid “food fatigue” and prevent spoilage, I immediately split the haul:
- Tonight’s Dinner: Hand-pressed juicy burgers.
- The Freezer Stash: I vacuum-sealed (or double-bagged) the remaining beef into meal-sized portions.
- The Week Ahead: These packs are ready to be tossed into the pan for ground beef burritos, pasta sauce, or tacos.
By managing the meat yourself instead of buying smaller, pre-packaged portions, you aren’t just saving cents—you’re saving your sanity during the busy work week.
Stay Smart, Daphne Monroe
